New MacBooks: What to Trust

Before I begin, I want to make this note about creditability of the information provided on this site. These are not even rumors, they are educated guesses based on products information, patents, and new innovations to see what Apple will include in their products, and that’s what just about any rumor site does.

Anyway, Glass Trackpads look they are out, not that I ever believed they would make it from the start. What’s the point of one anyway? They add to the weight, could be prone to cracking if the machine is dropped, and if they display an image, who looks at their trackpad instead of the screen when using it?

Seriously, if you want to make a MacBook DS, just come out with a touch screen, not to mention the source that provided this information was wrong about the release date.

Aluminum, something I could never imagine happing, my opinion hasn’t changed. It’s always hoped for before every update, and users are simply let down. If there is a major change, it is going to be out in January at MacWorld. Okay, it will happen sooner or later, but just not now.

Something that I really hope Apple will finally do is stop crippling the poor MacBooks! Make ONE, yes, one. series of computers, and 4 different models, a 12″, 15″, 15″, and 17″ model, costing $999, $1299, $1499, $2000 each. All with dedicated graphics, RAM starting at 2GB with 120 GB hard drives, a superdrive (please ditch the combo – not even $400 PC’s use it!) and at least 256MB of VRAM, dedicated. All the same, newly designed aluminum casing, and the 17″ would still the “Pro” choice. They would fly off the shelves, or rather the back room and Apple would have the market in no time, literally.

Mac Mini needs an update as well, and we can’t let it get taken over by the MacBook Market, as high as the demand is. Update it, and actually get some half decent stuff in it. Let’s start with 2.4 GHz C2D’s, 160GB Hard Drives, and 2 GB of RAM at the very least. Give it some aluminum casing, and if the new hopefully just one MacBook series follows, the entire series would have made the transition.

Anyway, I’ll keep dreaming, come on Apple, we have faith in you!

MacBook’s October

News about me:

Well, it’s been a while as of my last post, but I’ll try my best to keep you guys updated.

School started for me again, I’m starting to miss my old PowerBook once again, and booted it back up today. God this thing is slow, but I’ve been using the latest MacBook for the past two weeks, so I can’t say much there.

I remember when I first got the thing, when I got the machine on 9/30/03, about a week from now it will be five. It was awesome getting the top of the line machine at the time, and to think it was the fastest thing in the world, although I can’t lie, the thing was a beast when I had 10.3 on it. Now, 10.5, it’s extremely slow, but I’ll be going back to 10.4 once I get a free Saturday. Hopefully, I’ll be able to get back to the Power :)

The machine needs a new power adapter and battery, and that’s about $250 to Apple. I will most likely just get both of them off of eBay, and that would total out to around 70 shipped. Then for my MacBook, I need to get AppleCare, and as the student discount is better than my employee there, $183. Once again, to eBay and will get it for around $100. Later down the road, I’m going to get a time capsule hopefully around Jan next year.  That be from Apple ;) . That can go from costing $1000 for a few new parts for my machines all the way down to around $400.

I’ll keep you guys updated on that stuff, and am a bit iffy of even spending $70 on my PowerBook. The machine is built really, really, well. It’s has better build quality than a MacBook or MacBook Pro, and almost every PowerBook that was taken care of is still working in great condition. A little bit of electrical tape will fix the power adapter, and the battery, meh, I got a new MacBook that I’d take with my before this.

My MacBook is running strong, the PowerBook once it gets Tiger will hopefully be coming along, and hopefully I’ll have all of that stuff my January as I said before.

MacBooks:

October if that. The date keeps getting pushed back, Apple never says anything, nor have they ever, I doubt there will be an event, just keep checking every Tuesday after 10.

Isn’t that pretty? Sources say that it is very “major” and Apple is urging users to attend.

MacBook Release Date [updated]

Well, now that it is September and we are looking at a new event, September 9th. iPods are going to be there, that’s a given based on the presentation and the stores already got a new shipment in. We know the new Nanos, and we aren’t expecting too many different things with the Touch.

MacBooks, can we expect a “one more thing”, probably not. Later in September after the promotion ends, or early October at best.

Stinks, but that’s what it is looking like.

On a side note, check out the Genius Bar tab to see what’s coming to this site very soon. Not only are we going to be featuring the latest Mac news and announcements, but a useful knowledge base for all Mac users.
